I said: al-Baghawī, as al-Dāraqutnī said, is "trustworthy." The reconciliation between their narrations is that both are authentic and established; one narrated this, and the other narrated that, as indicated by the ḥadīth of the chapter and others as previously mentioned, and this is further supported by what follows. Ḥammād—who is Ibn Salamah—has another isnād, if it is authentic from him, narrated by Muḥammad ibn al-Sakan al-Aylī who said: Muʾammal ibn Ismāʿīl narrated to us, saying: Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated to us, saying: Thābit al-Bunānī narrated to us from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Laylá from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib who said: "When the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) would go to his bed, he would say," and he mentioned it. It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" (1/68/2/1258 and 2/72/6188) through two of his shaykhs who said: Muḥammad ibn al-Sakan al-Aylī narrated it to us. And he said: "Muʾammal ibn Ismāʿīl was unique in narrating it." I said: He is truthful but has poor memory, as stated in "al-Taqrīb." As for Muḥammad ibn al-Sakan al-Aylī, I do not know if he is the one mentioned in "al-Mīzān": "Muḥammad ibn al-Sakan from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Bukayr. Unknown, and his report is objectionable. Al-Bukhārī said: There is a concern regarding the isnād of his ḥadīth..." However, in "Tārīkh al-Bukhārī" (1/1/111): "Muḥammad ibn Sakīn..." And similarly in "al-Jarḥ" and "al-Thiqāt" (9/67). The ḥadīth was also narrated from Abū Isḥāq from ʿĀṣim ibn Ḍamrah from ʿAlī (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) who said: and he mentioned it from the actions of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī (2/901/239) through the route of ʿAlī ibn ʿĀbis from him
