from this route, but rather from two other routes from al-Barāʾ regarding his command (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), not his action. This has been overlooked by some contemporary writers, as will be mentioned. It was also recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Duʿāʾ" (2/905/246) through the route of Musaddad with it. Then it was recorded by al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (1211) through the route of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Saʿīd ibn Ḥāzim Abū Bakr al-Nakhaʿī who said: al-ʿAlāʾ ibn al-Musayyib informed us with it. I said: And this ʿAbd Allāh ibn Saʿīd, there is no harm in him for follow-ups, as three trustworthy narrators have narrated from him. For this reason, al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Acceptable." There is another route for the ḥadīth, narrated by Khalaf ibn Khalīfah from Ḥuṣayn from Saʿd ibn ʿUbaydah from al-Barāʾ with it, recorded by al-Nasāʾī in "ʿAmal al-Yawm wa-al-Laylah" (461/785). I said: Its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of the two Shaykhs, except for Khalaf ibn Khalīfah, who is among the narrators of Muslim, but he became confused. There is a disagreement in its text, as Manṣūr narrated it from Saʿd ibn ʿUbaydah with it in a marfūʿ form with the wording: "When you go to your bed, perform ablution as you do for prayer, then lie on your right side and say..." He mentioned it and added at the end: "and make these the last words you speak." He said: I repeated it to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and when I reached: "O Allāh, I have believed in Your Book which You have revealed." I said: "And Your Messenger!" He said: "No, and Your Prophet whom You have sent."
