and this isnād consists of narrators who are reliable according to the standards of the two Shaykhs [al-Bukhārī and Muslim], except for Jisr, who is Ibn Furqad, and he is weak due to his poor memory. The statements of the scholars differ regarding his weakness, and perhaps the most balanced opinion is that of Abū Ḥātim: "He is not strong, but he was a righteous man." A similar statement is made by al-Bukhārī in "al-Tārīkh" (1/1/246): "He is not that strong." Al-Dhahabī alluded to what I mentioned in "al-Mīzān," as he narrated a ḥadīth for him regarding the Greatest Name of Allāh, and he commented on it by saying: "This is almost fabricated, and Jisr cannot bear it." Al-Ḥāfiẓ agreed with him. I said: Therefore, he can be used for supporting evidence and strengthened by others, contrary to what some contemporaries who have not mastered this field have denied, for he has been followed up. Abū ʿUbaydah al-Ḥaddād said: Muḥtasib ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us from Thābit al-Bunānī with it, and his wording is: "When will I meet my brothers?" They said: O Messenger of Allāh! Are we not your brothers? He said, and he mentioned it. It was narrated by Abū Yaʿlá in "his Musnad" (6/118) and from him by Ibn ʿAdī (6/2457) and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ" (2/39/5624) and he said: "No one narrated it from Thābit except al-Muḥtasib."
وهذا إسنادرجاله ثقات رجال الشيخين غير جسر، وهو ابن فرقد، وهو ضعيف لسوء حفظه،واختلفت أقوال الأئمة في تضعيفه، ولعل أعدل ما قيل فيه قول أبي حاتم: " ليسبالقوي، كان رجلا صالحا ". ومثله قول البخاري في " التاريخ " (١ / ١ / ٢٤٦) : " ليس بذاك ". وقد أشار إلى هذا الذي ذكرته الذهبي في " الميزان "، فقدساق له حديثا في اسم الله الأعظم، فعقب عليه بقوله: " هذا شبه موضوع، ومايحتمله جسر ". وأقره الحافظ. قلت: فمثله يستشهد به، ويتقوى بغيره، خلافالمن نفى ذلك من بعض المعاصرين الذين لم يتقنوا هذه الصناعة، فإنه قد توبع،فقال أبو عبيدة الحداد: حدثنا محتسب بن عبد الرحمن عن ثابت البناني به،ولفظه: " متى ألقى إخواني؟ ". قالوا: يا رسول الله! ألسنا إخوانك؟ قال:فذكره. أخرجه أبو يعلى في " مسنده " (٦ / ١١٨) وعنه ابن عدي (٦ / ٢٤٥٧)والطبراني في " المعجم الأوسط " (٢ / ٣٩ / ٥٦٢٤) وقال: " لم يروه عن ثابتإلا المحتسب ".
