I said: this is rejected, and al-Haythamī criticized it (8/162). The narrator from him, al-Qāsim ibn Saʿīd, I did not find a biography for him, and similarly ʿAbd Allāh ibn Tamīm, who was mentioned by al-Muzayfī among those who narrated from his father in a diminutive form: "ʿUbayd Allāh," and he indicated the isnād's lack of authenticity by saying: "if it is preserved." As for al-Haytham Abū Saʿīd, he was mentioned by al-Bukhārī and Ibn Abī Ḥātim in their books for his narration from Ghālib al-Qaṭṭān, and they did not mention a narrator from him, and they indicated that he was from Baṣrah. Thus, the isnād with that rejected part is unknown. The first part of it was narrated by Sufyān from Abū al-Ḥuwayrith from a man of Juhaynah as marfūʿ, and its completion: "if he fears Allāh in it and rectifies, he is like the one striving in the path of Allāh, standing at night without sleeping, and fasting during the day without breaking fast." It was recorded by Ibn Mandah in "al-Maʿrifah" (2/278/2). I said: and this Abū al-Ḥuwayrith, his name is ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Muʿāwiyah ibn al-Ḥuwayrith al-Anṣārī, and he is weak due to poor memory. Ibn al-Mubārak recorded in "al-Zuhd" (185/2 - al-Kawākib 575): Sufyān narrated to us from ʿAlī ibn Zayd from Zurārah ibn Abī Awfá from Mālik ibn ʿAmr, or ʿAmr ibn Mālik as marfūʿ with the wording: "Whoever takes care of two children of Muslim parents until they become independent, Paradise is assured for him absolutely."
