in his "Musnad," and the committee responsible for publishing "al-Jāmiʿ al-Kabīr" followed him, as is their custom, and all of this is incorrect because al-Ṭaḥāwī, may Allāh have mercy on him, does not have a book known by this name "al-Musnad." And Allāh knows best.
مسنده "، وقلدته اللجنة القائمةعلى نشر " الجامع الكبير " كما هي عادتهم، وكل ذلك خطأ، لأن الطحاوي رحمهالله ليس له كتاب يعرف بهذا الاسم " المسند ". والله أعلم.
- "Name him with the most beloved names to me, Ḥamzah ibn ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib." It was narrated by al-Ḥākim (3/196) through the route of Yaʿqūb ibn Ḥumayd ibn Kāṣib: Sufyān ibn ʿUyaynah narrated to us from ʿAmr ibn Dīnār from Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh who said: A boy was born to a man among us, and they said: What shall we name him? The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. And he said: "The isnād is authentic." Al-Dhahabī refuted it by saying: "I say: Yaʿqūb is weak." This is what he said, and the man is disputed as you see in "Tahdhīb al-Tahdhīb," and it is summarized in "Taqrīb," where it says: "Truthful, but perhaps he made mistakes." Al-Dhahabī himself mentioned some of this disagreement in "al-Kāshif," and said: "Al-Bukhārī said: We have not seen except good (and in "al-Tahdhīb": he has always been good), he is originally truthful." Therefore, al-Dhahabī included him in his book: "Maʿrifat al-Ruwāt al-Mutakallam fīhim bimā lā Yūjib al-Radd" (p. 191) and symbolized him with (M), and I think it is a typographical error contrary to all the sources that translated him, including "al-Kāshif," where he was only symbolized with (ʿKh, Q). Then he was followed up, as al-Ḥākim also narrated it through the route of Yūsuf ibn Sulaymān al-Māzinī: Sufyān ibn ʿUyaynah narrated to us from ʿAmr ibn Dīnār, who heard a man in Medina say:
- " سموه بأحب الأسماء إلي حمزة بن عبد المطلب ".أخرجه الحاكم (٣ / ١٩٦) من طريق يعقوب بن حميد بن كاسب: حدثنا سفيان بنعيينة عن عمرو بن دينار عن جابر بن عبد الله قال: ولد لرجل منا غلام،فقالوا: ما نسميه؟ فقال النبي ﷺ: فذكره. وقال: " صحيحالإسناد ". ورده الذهبي بقوله: " قلت: يعقوب ضعيف ". كذا قال، والرجلمختلف فيه كما تراه في " تهذيب التهذيب "، ولخص ذلك في " التقريب "، فقال:" صدوق ربما وهم ". وحكى الذهبي نفسه في " الكاشف " شيئا من ذلك الاختلاف،وقال: " وقال البخاري: لم نر إلا خيرا (وفي " التهذيب ": لم يزل خيرا) ،هو في الأصل صدوق ". ولذلك أورده الذهبي في كتابه: " معرفة الرواة المتكلمفيهم بما لا يوجب الرد " (ص ١٩١) ورمز له فيه بـ (م) ، وأظنه خطأ مطبعيالمخالفته لجميع المصادر التي ترجمت له، ومنها " الكاشف "، فإنه لم يرمز لهفيها إلا بـ (عخ، ق) . ثم إنه قد توبع، فأخرجه الحاكم أيضا من طريق يوسف بنسلمان المازني: حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن عمرو بن دينار، سمع رجلا بالمدينةيقول:
