- "This matter will remain with the Quraysh as long as they show mercy when asked for it, act justly when they judge, and are fair when they distribute. Whoever among them does not do this, upon him is the curse of Allāh, the angels, and all people. No exchange or ransom will be accepted from them." It was recorded by Imām Aḥmad (4/396) and al-Bazzār (2/229/1582) through the route of ʿAwf from Ziyād ibn Mukhāriq from Abū Kinānah from Abū Mūsá who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) stood at the door of a house where some people from Quraysh were present. He stood and took hold of the doorpost and then said: "Is there anyone in the house except a Qurashī?" It was said: O Messenger of Allāh, except for so-and-so, our sister's son. He said: "The sister's son of a people is one of them," then he mentioned it. This Abū Kinānah is unknown, and it is said he is Muʿāwiyah ibn Qurrah, but it is not confirmed as al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb." The ḥadīth was mentioned by al-Haythamī in "al-Majmaʿ" (5/193) and he said: "It was narrated by Aḥmad, al-Bazzār, and al-Ṭabarānī, and the men of Aḥmad are trustworthy." Thus he said, and I have noted the issue of anonymity, and the isnād of al-Bazzār is like the isnād of Aḥmad. And for Abū Dāwūd from it: "The sister's son of a people is one of them," and it has been mentioned earlier (776). The ḥadīth has supporting narrations that make it authentic and strong, including one from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī similar to it. It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Ṣaghīr" (p. 43), and likewise in "al-Awsaṭ" (1/142/2/2736), and he said in "al-Majmaʿ" (5/194): "And its men are trustworthy."
