"Indeed, your Lord marvels at a young man who has no youthful indiscretion." Narrated by al-Ruyānī in "Musnad" (9/50/2) from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Wahb, who informed us from Ibn Lahīʿah from Musharrah ibn Hāʿān from ʿUqbah in a marfūʿ manner. Then he narrated it (51/1) with this chain, except that he replaced Musharrah with Abū ʿAshānah. Similarly, it was narrated by Abū Saʿīd ibn al-Aʿrābī in "Muʿjam" (86/2) from Saʿīd ibn Sharḥabīl from Ibn Lahīʿah. I say: This is a good isnād, because the narration of Ibn Wahb from Ibn Lahīʿah is authentic as is known. Moreover, both Musharrah ibn Hāʿān and Abū ʿAshānah—whose name is Ḥayy ibn Yawmān—are reliable in ḥadīth, so it does not harm that it is sometimes narrated from this one and sometimes from that one, because it is a transition from one trustworthy person to another, and the second is more reliable than the first. It is likely that the second is more preferable due to the narration of Saʿīd ibn Sharḥabīl from Ibn Lahīʿah from him, as this Ibn Sharḥabīl is truthful and among the men of al-Bukhārī. This is supported by the narration of Qutaybah ibn Saʿīd: Ibn Lahīʿah narrated to us from Abū ʿAshānah with it. It was extracted by Aḥmad (4/151) with the wording: "Indeed, Allāh marvels..." It was also narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (17/309/853) through two routes from Ibn Lahīʿah, one of them from Qutaybah. It was also narrated by Kāmil: Ibn Lahīʿah narrated to us, Abū ʿAshānah narrated to us with it. It was extracted by Abū Yaʿlá in "Musnad" (1749).
