"None of you should say: I have planted, but rather say: I have cultivated." It was recorded by Ibn Jarīr al-Ṭabarī in "al-Tafsīr" (27/114), al-Bazzār (1289), Ibn Ḥibbān (5693 - al-Iḥsān), al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" (1/149/1 - al-Ẓāhiriyyah), Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (8/267), al-Sahmī in "Tārīkh Jurjān" (369), and al-Bayhaqī in "al-Sunan" (6/138) and also in "Shuʿab al-Īmān" (4/2801), all through the route of Muslim ibn Abī Muslim al-Jurmi: Mukhallad ibn al-Ḥusayn narrated to us from Hishām ibn Ḥassān from Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn from Abū Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ...(and he mentioned it). Muḥammad said: Abū Hurayrah said: "Have you not heard the saying of Allāh ﷿: *'Have you seen what you sow? Is it you who make it grow, or are We the Grower?'*" I said: This is a good isnād; its narrators are trustworthy, the men of Muslim except for Muslim ibn Abī Muslim al-Jurmi. Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" (9/158) and said: "al-Ḥasan ibn Sufyān and Abū Yaʿlá narrated from him, he might err, he died in the year (240)." I said: al-Khaṭīb also authenticated him in "Tārīkh Baghdād" (13/100) and mentioned that he was Baghdadi, settled in (Ṭarsūs), and there he passed away. I said: al-Ḥāfiẓ also considered him reliable in "al-Fatḥ" (4/351) for a ḥadīth prohibiting the sale of food until the two measures are conducted, which is included in "Aḥādīth Buyūʿ al-Mawsūʿah." al-Haythamī did not recognize him, saying in both ḥadīths (4/98-99 and 120): "I did not find anyone who documented him!" Shaykh al-Aʿẓamī followed him in this in his commentary on "Kashf al-Astār" (2/86 and 96) as did al-Manāwī in the second of them in "Fayḍ al-Qadīr"!
