It appears that this Mujālid is the man mentioned in the narration of Ibn ʿUyaynah from Abū al-Zinād, who said: I heard a man narrating to Khārijah ibn Zayd ibn Thābit, saying: I heard your father in this place in Miná saying: and he mentioned something similar. It is also apparent that Abū al-Zinād, after hearing the ḥadīth from the man, heard it directly from Khārijah, as indicated by the first narration of al-Ṭabarānī. The ḥadīth also has corroboration from the narration of Ibn ʿAbbās. It was recorded by Ibn Jarīr (5/138-139) through two chains from him, each strengthening the other, thus elevating the ḥadīth to the rank of ṣaḥīḥ. It is supported by the ḥadīth of al-Qāsim ibn Abī Bazzah from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, who said: I asked Ibn ʿAbbās: Is there repentance for one who intentionally kills a believer? He said: No, and I recited to him the verse in (al-Furqān)... And he said: "This is a Meccan verse abrogated by a Medinan verse: * (And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell) *" Recorded by al-Bukhārī (4764) and al-Nasāʾī (4001), and the context is his. (Two Notes): First: All these preceding narrations explicitly indicate that the revelation of the verse in (al-Nisāʾ) was later than the verse in (al-Furqān), except for the narration of Mujālid ibn ʿAwf in al-Nasāʾī, which is in the wording:
