Ḥibbān in "al-Thiqāt" (5/535)! And thus Ibn al-Qaṭṭān said: "He is unknown." As for the statement of al-Ḥāfiẓ al-ʿIrāqī as quoted by al-ʿAsqalānī in "al-Lisān": "He is known for his condition"! It is unclear, as long as he is only known by this elevated and suspended narration. The first of these was also reported by Ibn ʿAdī in "al-Kāmil" (6/2253-2254) and al-Ṭabarānī in "Musnad al-Shāmiyyīn" (p. 123 - Islamic University microfilm). In the printed edition of "al-Kāmil" it appears: "even if his hair is thin"! This is one of the many distortions that occurred in this printed edition, verified by a committee of specialists under the supervision of the publisher! May Allāh send prayers upon Muḥammad, the one who said: "They call it by other than its name"! (Note): I previously mentioned that al-Ḥākim said: "Authentic according to the conditions of Muslim," and this phrase was omitted from the printed edition of "al-Mustadrak," so I retrieved it from "al-Majmūʿ" by al-Nawawī. It remains in "Talkhīṣ al-Mustadrak" indicating that it is established in its original: "al-Mustadrak" and it is his statement: "according to the conditions"! The word "Muslim" was omitted from it, and from it, I derived al-Dhahabī's agreement on its authenticity. And Allāh knows best.
