and al-Aʿmash narrated to us from Khaythamah from Qays ibn Marwān that he - meaning ʿUmar (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) - said:... then he mentioned the story, and in it is the ḥadīth of the chapter. I said: This isnād is authentic, all its men are trustworthy from the men of "al-Tahdhīb." al-Ḥākim narrated (3/318) a part of the story from the route of Sufyān from al-Aʿmash similar to the first narration of Abū Muʿāwiyah, and he said: "Authentic according to the conditions of the two Shaykhs!" al-Dhahabī agreed with him! But they did not notice the discontinuity which was clarified by the narration of al-Ḥasan ibn ʿUbayd Allāh. The ḥadīth has a supporting narration from the narration of Kumayl ibn Ziyād from ʿAlī (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) with its meaning. al-Ḥākim narrated it (3/317) and authenticated it. al-Dhahabī agreed with him.

- "From (ʿAdan Abyan) twelve thousand will emerge supporting Allāh and His Messenger, they are the best among those between me and them." Aḥmad narrated it in "al-Musnad" (1/333): ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us from al-Mundhir ibn al-Nuʿmān al-Afṭas, he said: I heard Wahb narrating from Ibn ʿAbbās, he said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: then he mentioned it. Maʿmar said to me: "Go and ask him about this ḥadīth." From the route of Aḥmad, Ibn ʿAsākir narrated it in "Tārīkh Dimashq" (17/474/1) and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (11/56/11029) from the route of ʿAbd al-Razzāq, and likewise Ibn Abī Ḥātim in the biography of al-Mundhir ibn al-Nuʿmān (4/1/242-243) and narrated from Ibn Maʿīn that he said: "Trustworthy," but the ḥadīth appeared with him as mawqūf without "he said."
