I said: he is trustworthy. Likewise, the other narrators, except that Sharīk has weakness in his memory, but he has been followed in some of it. Al-Ṭaḥāwī included it in "Sharḥ al-Maʿānī" (2/344) through the route of ʿAbdah ibn Sulaymān from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah with the wording: "that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) passed by a land called ʿAzrah and named it Khudrah." I said: and this is an authentic chain, and it indicates that whoever sent it without mentioning ʿĀʾishah has fallen short. Al-Haythamī attributed it (8/51) to Abū Yaʿlá and al-Ṭabarānī in al-Awsaṭ and said: "The men of Abū Yaʿlá are the men of the authentic collections," and he said in the route of "al-Muʿjam al-Ṣaghīr": "and its men are the men of the authentic collections." Thus he said, and Sharīk was only included by Muslim when paired with others. (Note): "ʿAzrah" is mentioned in al-Ṭaḥāwī with a zāy, and in "al-Majmaʿ": "ʿAdhrah" with a dhāl, and perhaps that is correct. And there is a sound witness for the ḥadīth with the wording: "When a man came to him with a name he did not like, he would change it."
