It was recorded by Abū Nuʿaym in "Akhbār Aṣbahān" (2/277). I said: This isnād is good if this Saʿīd is Ibn Abī Ayyūb al-Miṣrī, who is a reliable and established narrator from the two Shaykhs [al-Bukhārī and Muslim]. However, if he is Ibn Muslimah al-Jazarī, then he is weak as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb," and both were mentioned by al-Mizzī in "Tahdhīb" among the narrators from Ibn ʿAjlān, and it is more likely that he is al-Jazarī. And Allāh knows best. This was further confirmed for me by two matters: first, that al-Mizzī mentioned him among the teachers of Ayyūb ibn Muḥammad ibn Ziyād, not Saʿīd ibn Abī Ayyūb al-Miṣrī. The second is that when al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Ḥajar mentioned him in "Takhrīj al-Adhkār" as a witness for another ḥadīth with his isnād to Ibn ʿUmar - as in Ibn ʿAllān (5/158-159) - he said: "And in its isnād there is weakness." So if this Saʿīd were al-Miṣrī, his isnād would not be weak. And Allāh knows best. I was further assured of what I had deemed likely after the book "al-Duʿāʾ" by al-Ṭabarānī was printed, as I saw that he recorded it therein (2/1288/885) through another route, saying: "Saʿīd ibn Muslimah narrated to us..."
