come closer, O people of Muḍar! By Allāh, you will continue to tempt and kill every believer until Allāh, His angels, and the believers strike you until you cannot protect the bottom of a valley. They said: Why do you bring us closer when we are like this? He said: Among you is the master of the children of Adam, and among you are forerunners like the forerunners of horses. It was recorded by Ibn Abī Shaybah (15/111/19248) and al-Bazzār (3362). I said: Its isnād is authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs, and Ribʿī is Ibn Ḥarāsh. Then I found another teacher for Ribʿī who said: Sīf ibn Wahb narrated to us, saying: Abū al-Ṭufayl said to me: How old are you? ... the ḥadīth, and it includes that ʿAmr ibn Ḍulayʿ had companionship, and that he entered upon Ḥudhayfah and said to him: How are you this morning? ... and it includes that Ḥudhayfah narrated to him this ḥadīth in a similar manner. It was recorded by al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (no. 1135), and al-Ḥāfiẓ graded its isnād as ḥasan in "al-Iṣābah," and perhaps he means it is ḥasan due to other supporting narrations, otherwise Sīf is considered weak in ḥadīth according to him in "al-Taqrīb," and from this perspective, it was also recorded by Ibn ʿAsākir. The ḥadīth has a supporting narration with a similar wording: "Muḍar will strike the servants of Allāh until the name of Allāh is not worshipped, and the believers will strike them until they cannot protect the tail of a valley." It was recorded by Aḥmad (3/86-87): Khālaf ibn al-Walīd narrated to us, ʿAbbād ibn ʿAbbād narrated to us from Mujālid ibn Saʿīd from Abū al-Wadāk from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī as marfūʿ. I said: This isnād is weak; its men are trustworthy except for Mujālid ibn Saʿīd, who is not strong as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb."
