and all of them emphasize the truthfulness of the vision, so the second wording is closer to authenticity in terms of meaning. It is like the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿAbbās and Anas mentioned earlier: "he has indeed seen me," and even more emphatic is the ḥadīth of Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī with the wording: "he has indeed seen the truth." It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (6997) and Aḥmad (3/55), and it is also by Ibn Ḥibbān (6019 and 6020) from Abū Hurayrah.
وكلها في تأكيد صدق الرؤيا، فاللفظ الثاني أقرب إلى الصحة من حيث المعنى، فهو فيه كحديث ابن عباس وأنس المتقدم: " فقد رآني "، وآكد منه حديث أبي سعيد الخدري بلفظ: " فقد رآني الحق ". أخرجه البخاري (٦٩٩٧) وأحمد (٣ / ٥٥) وهو لابن حبان (٦٠١٩ و ٦٠٢٠) عن أبي هريرة.
- "If you had come to the people of ʿUmān, they would not have insulted you nor struck you." It was recorded by Muslim (7/190), Ibn Ḥibbān (2314 - Mawārid), and Aḥmad (4/420, 423, and 424), and the wording is his, and by al-Ruyānī in his "Musnad" (30/19/1) from various chains from Mahdī ibn Maimūn: Abū al-Wāziʿ [Jābir ibn ʿAmr al-Rāsibī] narrated to us, saying: I heard Abū Barzah say: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) sent a messenger to a tribe of the Arabs for something—Mahdī does not know what it was—he said: they insulted him and struck him, so he complained about that to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and he said: and he mentioned it. And (ʿUmān) with a ḍammah on the ʿayn and a softened mīm: a city in Bahrain as al-Nawawī said. The ḥadīth has also been narrated with another similar wording in the tribe of the Arabs in (ʿUmān), but with another isnād that has a break, and with a third wording different from these two that includes a virtue of the proof from it, and it is also weak. Therefore, I have included them in "al-Ḍaʿīfah" (5173 and 5174).
- " لو أنك أتيت أهل عمان ما سبوك ولا ضربوك ". أخرجه مسلم (٧ / ١٩٠) وابن حبان (٢٣١٤ - موارد) وأحمد (٤ / ٤٢٠ و ٤٢٣ و٤٢٤) واللفظ له، والروياني في " مسنده " (٣٠ / ١٩ / ١) من طرق عن مهدي بن ميمون: حدثنا أبو الوازع [جابر بن عمرو الراسبي] قال: سمعت أبا برزة قال: بعث رسول الله ﷺ رسولا إلى حي من أحياء العرب في شيء -لا يدري مهدي ما هو؟ - قال: فسبوه وضربوه، فشكا ذلك إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال: فذكره. و (عمان) بضم العين وتخفيف الميم: مدينة بالبحرين كما قال النووي. وقد روي الحديث بلفظ آخر نحوه في حي العرب في (عمان) ، لكن بإسناد آخر فيه انقطاع، وبلفظ ثالث مغاير لهذين فيه فضل الحجة منها، وهو ضعيف أيضا، ولذلك خرجتهما في " الضعيفة " (٥١٧٣ و ٥١٧٤) .
