ʿUqbah - the brother of Qabīṣah - narrated it from Ḥamzah al-Zayyāt and Sufyān al-Thawrī from Zubayd with it, and the addition is his, and he added at the end: "for they are the foremost, the outflanking, and the rear guard, and they are the enduring righteous deeds." It was recorded by al-Bayhaqī in "Shuʿab al-Īmān" (1/348-349) through the route of al-Ḥākim from Mihrān ibn Hārūn ibn ʿAlī al-Dāwūdī: Sufyān ibn ʿUqbah narrated to us... and it is also according to the criteria of Muslim except for this Mihrān, for I did not find anyone who documented him. Upon returning to "al-Mustadrak," it became clear that two narrators between Ibn ʿUqbah and Mihrān were omitted from "al-Shuʿab"! Ḥamzah al-Zayyāt is Ibn Ḥabīb the reciter, and he is truthful though he may err, from the men of Muslim, so he is a strong follower of al-Thawrī if the isnād to him is authentic, thus the reliance is on the narration of ʿĪsá ibn Yūnus. Indeed, Muḥammad ibn Kathīr contradicted him according to al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (275) and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Mahdī according to al-Marwazī in "Ziyādāt al-Zuhd" (1134), for they narrated it from Sufyān from Zubayd with it as mawqūf. Zuhayr followed him, saying: Zubayd narrated to us with it. It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd in "al-Zuhd" (164/157). Muḥammad ibn Ṭalḥah also followed him from Zubayd with it as mawqūf. It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (8990) and its isnād is authentic. Al-Haythamī said (10/90): "And its men are the men of the Ṣaḥīḥ."
عقبة - أخو قبيصة -، فرواه عن حمزة الزيات وسفيانالثوري عن زبيد به، والزيادة له، وزاد في آخره: " فإنهن مقدمات مجنباتومعقبات، وهن الباقيات الصالحات ". أخرجه البيهقي في " شعب الإيمان " (١ /٣٤٨ - ٣٤٩) من طريق الحاكم عن مهران بن هارون بن علي الداوودي: حدثنا سفيانبن عقبة.. وهو على شرط مسلم أيضا غير مهران هذا، فلم أجد من ترجمه. وبالرجوع إلى " المستدرك " تبين أنه سقط من " الشعب " راويان بين ابن عقبةومهران! وحمزة الزيات هو ابن حبيب القارىء، وهو صدوق ربما وهم، من رجالمسلم، فهو متابع قوي للثوري لو صح السند إليه، فالعمدة على رواية عيسى بنيونس. نعم قد خالفه محمد بن كثير عند البخاري في " الأدب المفرد " (٢٧٥)وعبد الرحمن بن مهدي عند المروزي في " زيادات الزهد " (١١٣٤) ، فروياه عنسفيان عن زبيد به موقوفا. وتابعه زهير قال: حدثنا زبيد به. أخرجه أبو داودفي " الزهد " (١٦٤ / ١٥٧) . وتابعه أيضا محمد بن طلحة عن زبيد به موقوفا. أخرجه الطبراني في " المعجم الكبير " (٨٩٩٠) وسنده صحيح. وقال الهيثمي (١٠ / ٩٠) : " ورجاله رجال الصحيح ".
