I said: A group of trustworthy narrators have reported from him, so as al-Dhahabī said: there is no harm in him, and al-ʿAsqalānī agreed, mentioning that Ibn Ḥibbān included him in "al-Thiqāt," and it is in there (8/148). Similarly, Muḥammad ibn Mirdās al-Anṣārī, from whom a group of eminent scholars narrated, including al-Bukhārī in "Juzʾ al-Qirāʾah," and Ibn Ḥibbān also mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" (9/107), and those above them are well-known, so the isnād is good, rather it is authentic because it has many supporting evidences, some of which I will mention, if Allāh wills. Al-Haythamī said about the ḥadīth (4/24): "It was narrated by al-Bazzār, and it includes Bakr ibn Sulaymān al-Baṣrī, whom al-Dhahabī deemed trustworthy, and a group narrated from him, and the rest of its men are reliable." Among its supporting evidences is what Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated: Abū al-Zubayr informed us from Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh that a man slaughtered a young goat before the Prophet ﷺ prayed, and the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: "It will not suffice for anyone after you," and he forbade them to slaughter until they prayed. It was recorded by Aḥmad (3/364), al-Ṭaḥāwī (4/172 - Egypt), and Abū Yaʿlá (2/492), and from him by Ibn Ḥibbān (1051). It is according to the conditions of Muslim, but Abū al-Zubayr is a mudallis, except that he explicitly stated transmission in another narration, as Imām Aḥmad said (3/324): Muḥammad ibn Bakr narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj informed us: Abū al-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh say: The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ led us in prayer on the Day of Sacrifice in Medina, and two men went ahead and slaughtered, thinking that the Prophet ﷺ had already slaughtered, so the Prophet ﷺ ordered those who had slaughtered before him to repeat with another sacrifice, and not to slaughter until the Prophet ﷺ had slaughtered. ʿAbd al-Razzāq followed him: Ibn Jurayj informed us of it in a continuous chain of transmission and hearing
