" umm ʿAwn bint Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar ibn Abī Ṭālib al-Hāshimiyyah, and it is said: Umm Jaʿfar, the wife of Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥanafiyyah, and the mother of his son ʿAwn. She narrated from her grandmother Asmāʾ bint ʿUmays, and from her, her son ʿAwn, and Umm ʿĪsá al-Jazzār, and it is said al-Khuzāʿiyyah." and the ḥadīth is authentic in my view, as it is established separately through various chains from ʿĀʾishah. The prayer of four [rakʿahs] is in "Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim" from her, and I have extracted it in the commentary on "Mukhtaṣar al-Shamāʾil" (number 280). As for the two rakʿahs of Fajr, it is authentically reported from her that he (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) would never abandon them, according to al-Bukhārī and others, and it is extracted in "Ṣaḥīḥ Abū Dāwūd" (1179). al-Bukhārī added in a narration: "ever." As for the prolongation of standing in the four [rakʿahs], I found a supporting narration from ʿAlī with the wording: "He would pray four [rakʿahs] before ẓuhr, praying them at the time of zawāl, and he would prolong them." It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī in "al-Shamāʾil" (289) from Masʿar ibn Kidām from Abū Isḥāq from ʿĀṣim ibn Ḍumrah from him. This isnād is ḥasan if Masʿar heard it from Abū Isḥāq—who was al-Sabīʿī—as he had become confused. It was also recorded by al-Tirmidhī and others through the route of Shuʿbah and others from Abū Isḥāq with it, without his saying: "and he would prolong them."
