As for my statement about (Yaʿqūb al-Madanī): "Perhaps he is in (Thiqāt Ibn Ḥibbān)," this book has been printed, and we did not find him in it, nor is he in "Tartīb" by al-Haythamī, nor in "Jāmiʿ Fahāris al-Thiqāt" compiled by brother Ḥusayn Ibrāhīm Zahrān, nor in my index of it titled "Taysīr Intifāʿ al-Khillān bi-Thiqāt Ibn Ḥibbān," may Allāh facilitate its publication. Al-Haythamī had previously said about this (Yaʿqūb): "No one has weakened him," so if he were in "al-Thiqāt"—and he is among the most knowledgeable of people about its contents—he would have declared him reliable, due to his frequent reliance on it. It is a misconception that the commentator on "Tahdhīb al-Mizzī" attributed him to "Thiqāt Ibn Ḥibbān 7/642," and this place he referred to contains only those from the generation of the followers of the followers! Then the error was repeated two lines later, as he attributed to him the narrator from him (al-Walīd ibn Abī al-Walīd al-Madanī)! He is in it (7/252), and he also mentioned him among (the followers) (5/494).

- "O ʿĀʾishah! When Allāh sends His wrath upon the people of His punishment and among them are the righteous, they are afflicted along with them, then they will be resurrected according to their intentions [and deeds]." It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān in "Ṣaḥīḥ" (No. 1846 - Mawārid) and al-Bayhaqī in "Shuʿab al-Īmān" (2/441/1) through the route of ʿAmr ibn ʿUthmān al-Raqī who said: Zuhayr ibn Muʿāwiyah narrated to us from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah from his father from ʿĀʾishah who said: I said: O Messenger of Allāh! When Allāh sends His wrath upon the people of the earth and among them are the righteous, do they perish with their destruction? He said: and mentioned it. The addition is from "al-Shuʿab" and "al-Iḥsān" as well (7270). I said: And this isnād is good except that al-Raqī has been weakened due to his memory, and Ibn ʿAdī said: "He has sound ḥadīths from Zuhayr and others, and trustworthy people have narrated from him, and he is among those whose ḥadīth is written."
