- "When a believer meets another believer, greets him with peace, and shakes his hand, their sins fall away as the leaves fall from the tree." It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" (No. 243 - my copy): Aḥmad ibn Rushdīn narrated to us, saying: Yaḥyá ibn Bukayr informed us, saying: Mūsá ibn Rabīʿah informed us from Mūsá ibn Suwayd al-Jumaḥī from al-Walīd ibn Abī al-Walīd from Yaʿqūb al-Ḥarqī from Ḥudhayfah ibn al-Yamān from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), who said: and he mentioned it. And he said: "This ḥadīth was not narrated from al-Walīd ibn Abī al-Walīd except by Mūsá ibn Rabīʿah." I said: And he is trustworthy as Abū Zurʿah said, as in "al-Jarḥ wa-al-Taʿdīl" (4/1/142-143), but his teacher Mūsá ibn Suwayd al-Jumaḥī, I did not find anyone who translated him, and the apparent words of al-Haythamī, which I had quoted from him under this ḥadīth (526) when I extracted it from him and al-Mundhirī, indicate that he is trustworthy, because he said: "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Awsaṭ', and Yaʿqūb ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Ṭaḥlāʾ was narrated from by more than one, and no one weakened him, and the rest of the narrators are trustworthy." I said: So the last part of his statement generally includes Mūsá ibn Suwayd al-Jumaḥī, so perhaps he is in "Thiqāt Ibn Ḥibbān", or there was some distortion in his name that obscured his identity from us. And Allāh knows best. This, and I had found it strange there, al-Haythamī's statement regarding this Yaʿqūb that more than one narrated from him for a reason I mentioned there, so refer to it if you wish, and it became clear to me now when I reviewed the isnād of the ḥadīth in "al-Awsaṭ" that the strangeness was justified and that al-Haythamī is not responsible for it. Rather, it is the publisher of his book, al-Sayyid al-Qudsī, for his ignorance in this field, and his audacity
