- "1. Whoever has three children born to him in Islam and they die before reaching the age of accountability, Allāh will admit him to Paradise by His mercy towards them. 2. Whoever grows a gray hair in the path of Allāh, it will be a light for him on the Day of Resurrection. 3. Whoever shoots an arrow in the path of Allāh, reaching the enemy whether it hits or misses, it will be equivalent to freeing a slave. 4. Whoever frees a believing slave, Allāh will free a part of him from the Fire for every part of the slave. 5. Whoever spends two pairs in the path of Allāh, Paradise has eight gates, Allāh will admit him through any gate he wishes." It was recorded by Imām Aḥmad (4/386) through the route of al-Faraj: Luqmān narrated to us from Abū Umāmah from ʿAmr ibn ʿAbasah al-Sulamī who said: I said to him: Tell us a ḥadīth you heard from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) that has no deficiency or error. He said: I heard him say it, and he mentioned it. I said: This isnād has trustworthy men except for al-Faraj - who is Ibn Faḍālah al-Ḥimṣī, and it is said: al-Dimashqī - who is weak, though some considered him reliable in his narrations from the Syrians, and this is one of them. Perhaps for this reason, al-Mundhirī said in "al-Targhīb" (3/91): "Aḥmad narrated it with a good isnād." I said: Whatever the case, this ḥadīth is authentic, and no meticulous researcher would doubt it, because it has been transmitted separately through various routes, and it must be clarified:
