the discussion remains on the disconnection that al-Ḥākim pointed out, and al-Dhahabī agreed with him on it, which is his statement: "If it is free from the sending of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAbd Allāh from his father..." I said: it is free from it, as his hearing from him has been confirmed by the testimony of a group of imams, including Sufyān al-Thawrī, Sharīk al-Qāḍī, Ibn Maʿīn, al-Bukhārī, and Abū Ḥātim. Al-Bukhārī narrated in "al-Tārīkh al-Ṣaghīr" with an acceptable isnād from al-Qāsim ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd from his father, who said: "When ʿAbd Allāh was on his deathbed, his son ʿAbd al-Raḥmān said to him: 'O my father, advise me.' He said: 'Weep over your sin.'" Therefore, the statement of those who deny his hearing from him holds no weight, as they have no evidence for that except the lack of knowledge of the hearing, and those who know are a proof against those who do not know. Al-Haythamī said about the ḥadīth in "al-Majmaʿ" (10/136): "It was narrated by Aḥmad, Abū Yaʿlá, al-Bazzār, and al-Ṭabarānī, and the men of Aḥmad are the men of the Ṣaḥīḥ except for Abū Salamah al-Juhanī, whom Ibn Ḥibbān deemed trustworthy." I said: and you have known from the previous investigation that he is trustworthy among the men of Muslim and that his name is Mūsá ibn ʿAbd Allāh. He did not narrate this ḥadīth alone; rather, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Isḥāq followed him in narrating from al-Qāsim ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd, without mentioning from his father. It was extracted by Muḥammad ibn al-Faḍl ibn Ghazwān al-Ḍabbī in "Kitāb al-Duʿāʾ" (folios 2/1-2) and Ibn al-Sunnī in "ʿAmal al-Yawm wa-al-Laylah" (335), and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Isḥāq, who is Abū Shaybah al-Wāsiṭī, is agreed upon as weak
