"seek water until the last moment; if you do not find water, then perform tayammum and pray." I said: This, regarding its suspension, has a weak isnād, its defect being this al-Ḥārith—who is Ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Aʿwar—as he is weak. Therefore, al-Bayhaqī said afterward: "This is not authentic from ʿAlī, and we follow what is established from Ibn ʿUmar, along with the apparent meaning of the Quran."

- "seek me first at the ṣirāṭ. He said: If I do not find you at the ṣirāṭ? He said: seek me at the mīzān. He said: If I do not find you at the mīzān? He said: then seek me at the ḥawḍ, for I will not miss these three places." It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (2/70), Aḥmad (3/178), and al-Ḍiyāʾ al-Maqdisī in "al-Aḥādīth al-Mukhtārah" (Q 242/1-2) through the route of Ḥarb ibn Maymūn al-Anṣārī Abū al-Khaṭṭāb: al-Naḍr ibn Anas ibn Mālik narrated to us from his father who said: I asked the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) to intercede on the Day of Judgment, and he said: I will do so. He said: I asked: O Messenger of Allāh! Where should I seek you? He said: seek me... [and so on]. Al-Tirmidhī said: "This is a ḥasan gharīb ḥadīth; we do not know it except through this route." I said: Al-Mundhirī affirmed it in "al-Targhīb" (4/211) as did al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Ḥajar in "al-Fatḥ" (11/405). Its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of Muslim, for he recorded another ḥadīth from Ḥarb in "al-Aṭʿimah" (6/121), and the rest of its narrators are from the narrators of the two Shaykhs [al-Bukhārī and Muslim]. Moreover, he is trustworthy without dispute, except for some errors by a few, so the statement must be verified. Thus, I say: al-Dhahabī said in "al-Mīzān":
