and this is a good chain of transmission, indicating that it has an origin from Asmāʾ. Perhaps Ibn Ḥarmalah had two chains from him, sometimes narrating from Yaḥyá ibn Hind, and sometimes from Ibn al-Musayyib. And Allāh knows best. 5 - As for the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah, it is narrated by Ḥabīb ibn ʿAbd Allāh from Shubayl from him, who said: The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was fasting on the day of ʿĀshūrāʾ and said to his companions: "Whoever among you began the day fasting, let him complete his fast, and whoever ate from his family's morning meal, let him complete the rest of his day." It was recorded by Aḥmad (2/359). Its narrators are reliable except for Ḥabīb ibn ʿAbd Allāh, who is al-Azdī al-Yamḥadī, and he is unknown. 6 - As for the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿAbbās, it is narrated by Jābir from ʿIkrimah from him, who said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) sent to the people of a village four farsakhs away - or he said two farsakhs - on the day of ʿĀshūrāʾ and ordered those who had eaten not to eat for the rest of the day, and those who had not eaten to complete their fast." It was recorded by Aḥmad (1/232). Jābir is Ibn Yazīd al-Juʿfī, and he is weak. 7 - As for the ḥadīth of the men of the Aslam tribe, it is narrated by Ibn Shihāb from Ibn Sundar from men among them [from Aslam] (1) that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to a man from Aslam: ... and he mentioned it similar to the first ḥadīth. It was recorded by al-Nasāʾī in "al-Kubrā" (38/1): Aḥmad ibn Ibrāhīm informed us, saying: Yazīd - meaning - ibn Wahb narrated to us, saying: al-Layth narrated to me from ʿUqayl from Ibn Shihāb. And this chain of transmission has reliable narrators except for Ibn Sundar, and the ḥāfiẓ asserted in "Bāb man
