and ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Ḥakam al-Balawī followed him in this from ʿAlī ibn Rabāḥ with the same. It was recorded by al-Ṭaḥāwī, al-Dāraqutnī, al-Ḥākim, and al-Bayhaqī through the route of al-Mufaḍḍal ibn Faḍālah, and also by al-Dāraqutnī (p. 73) and from him by al-Ḍiyāʾ al-Maqdisī in "al-Aḥādīth al-Mukhtārah" (no. 240 - my verification) from Ḥayywah, both from Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb: ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Ḥakam al-Balawī informed me of it. However, this al-Balawī is unknown, as in "al-Lisān": "al-Dāraqutnī said in the margin of the Sunan: he is not well-known. And he said in another place he is not strong. And al-Jawzaqānī said in "Kitāb al-Abāṭīl": he is not known for reliability or criticism." As for Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb, he is trustworthy, from the men of the two Shaykhs, but there is disagreement over his isnād and matn. As for the isnād, it was narrated from him by al-Mufaḍḍal and Ḥayywah as we mentioned. Ibn Lahīʿah, ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith, and al-Layth ibn Saʿd followed them from Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb with it, except they said: "I have attained." And they did not mention: "the sunnah." It was recorded by al-Ṭaḥāwī and the remaining four. Yaḥyá ibn Ayyūb disagreed with them and said: from Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb from ʿAlī ibn Rabāḥ with it, and he did not mention in his isnād "ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Ḥakam al-Balawī," and he said: "I have attained the sunnah." It was recorded by al-Dāraqutnī, and from him by al-Ḍiyāʾ al-Maqdisī (241). As for the matn, it has become clear from the previous extraction, and its summary is that al-Mufaḍḍal, Ḥayywah, and Yaḥyá ibn Ayyūb all three said: "I have attained the sunnah."
