in following the sunnah, due to ignorance of it or negligence, except for those whom Allāh wills, and they are few. Al-Nawawī (may Allāh have mercy on him) said in "Sharḥ Muslim": "In this ḥadīth, there is this etiquette of prayer, which is that the sunnah is that the follower should not bow for prostration until the imam places his forehead on the ground, unless he knows from his state that if he delays until this point, the imam would rise from prostration before his own prostration." Our companions (may Allāh have mercy on them) said: In this ḥadīth and others, the sum of what is implied is that the sunnah for the follower is to delay slightly behind the imam, such that he begins the act after the imam has started it, and before he finishes it." The other point: I found a new source for the ḥadīth that I had not previously come across, and it was considered lost to me, which is "al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ" by Imām al-Ṭabarānī. I wanted to inform the esteemed readers about this by referencing it, in case any of them who share in this knowledge and have free time might strive to verify it and bring it to the world of publications (1), for it is very rich in material, "containing all that is precious, rare, and objectionable," as al-Dhahabī said in his biography in "al-Tadhkirah." The Islamic University in Medina has photographed it, and from there I obtained a photocopied version on paper on my way to ḥajj last year (1399). May Allāh reward those in charge of it with good. I am now in the process of numbering its ḥadīths and creating indexes for it, and I have completed them, all praise is due to Allāh. They are four: 1 - An index of its narrators from the Companions alphabetically, and their number is approximately six hundred, with the numbers of their ḥadīths beside each of their names, thereby distinguishing those who narrated little from those who narrated much
