then I found the ḥadīth with al-Bayhaqī in "Shuʿab al-Īmān," and it is with him (2/173/2) through the route of ʿAbd al-Wāḥid ibn Zayd from Aslam al-Kūfī with it! So all that remains is to examine the isnād of "al-Awsaṭ," and I do not think it is anything but from this route, so I hope to be facilitated in reviewing it. However, the ḥadīth is authentic to me, for it has supporting evidence, the strongest of which is the ḥadīth of Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated by ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Sābiṭ: Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh told me, saying: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: "O Kaʿb ibn ʿUjrah! Whoever's flesh grows from unlawful earnings will not enter Paradise, the Fire is more deserving of him. O Kaʿb ibn ʿUjrah..." the ḥadīth. It was recorded by al-Dārimī (2/318), Ibn Ḥibbān (1569 and 1570), al-Ḥākim (4/127), and al-Bayhaqī in "al-Shuʿab" (2/173/2), and the context is his, and by Aḥmad (3/399 and 321) from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUthmān ibn Khuthaym from him. I said: And this isnād is good according to the criteria of Muslim, and Ibn Sābiṭ explicitly stated that he heard it from Jābir, so it refutes what was mentioned in his biography from Ibn Maʿīn that he said: He did not hear from him. And there are two other routes from Jābir. One is with al-Bayhaqī, and the other is with al-Tirmidhī (1/119) who said: "A ḥasan gharīb ḥadīth from this route." then I reviewed its isnād in "al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ" (2/65/1) and it is there as in "al-Shuʿab"!
