1 - As for the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah, there are several chains from him: the first is from Abū ʿUbayd, the freedman of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAwf, who reported from him that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said. It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (4/48), Muslim (8/140), and Aḥmad (2/264), with the context from Muslim, and al-Bukhārī includes the seventh addition. The second is from Saʿīd al-Maqburī, who reported from him, and it includes the sixth addition. It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (4/222) and Aḥmad (2/514, 537). The third is from Busr ibn Saʿīd, who reported from him, and it includes some of the fourth addition with the wording: "but be moderate." It was recorded by Muslim (8/139) and Aḥmad (2/451). The fourth is from Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn, who reported from him. It was recorded by Muslim and Aḥmad (2/235, 326, 390, 473, 509, 524). Muslim includes the second addition, while Aḥmad includes the first, second, and third additions. The fifth is from Abū Ṣāliḥ, who reported from him, and it includes the fourth addition. It was recorded by Muslim, Ibn Mājah (4201), and Aḥmad (2/344, 495). The sixth is from Ziyād al-Makhzūmī, who reported from him, and it includes the second addition. It was recorded by Aḥmad (2/256, 473). The seventh is from Muḥammad ibn Ziyād, who reported from him, and it includes the second addition. It was recorded by Aḥmad (2/385-386, 469) and its isnād is authentic
