141) and likewise Aḥmad (1/232) from the route of Ṭāwūs from Ibn ʿAbbās said: "There is no blame on one who fasts, nor on one who breaks the fast, for the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) fasted while traveling and also broke the fast." It was also reported by al-Bukhārī (3/146) and Muslim and others from the route of ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿUtbah from Ibn ʿAbbās: "That the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) set out for Makkah during Ramaḍān and fasted until he reached al-Kudayd, where he broke the fast, and so the people broke their fasts." (al-Kudayd) with the opening of the kāf is a well-known place between ʿUsfān and Qudayd, and between al-Kudayd and Makkah are two stages, and between it and Madīnah are several days as mentioned in "al-Fatḥ" (3/147). In a narration by al-Bukhārī (3/151) and Muslim (3/141) from the route of Mujāhid from Ṭāwūs from Ibn ʿAbbās said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) left Madīnah for Makkah and fasted until he reached ʿUsfān, then he called for water and raised it to his hand so that the people could see, and he broke the fast until he reached Makkah, and that was during Ramaḍān. Ibn ʿAbbās used to say: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) fasted and broke the fast, so whoever wishes may fast, and whoever wishes may break the fast." It was also reported by Ibn Jarīr in his Tafsīr (3/468/2883) from al-ʿAwām ibn Ḥawshab who said: "I said to Mujāhid: Fasting while traveling? He said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) used to fast and break the fast during it. I said: Which do you prefer? He said: It is a concession, and fasting during Ramaḍān is more beloved to me." Its chain is a sound mursal. 3 - As for the ḥadīth of Anas, it was narrated from him by Ziyād al-Namīrī: Anas ibn Mālik said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) encountered Ramaḍān while traveling, so he fasted, and he encountered Ramaḍān while traveling..
