ʿAbd al-Wahhāb ibn Bakht from Abū al-Zinād from al-Aʿraj from Abū Hurayrah from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) in the same manner. Some have omitted him from the chain, as ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ṣāliḥ narrated: Muʿāwiyah told me from Abū Maryam from Abū Hurayrah in a mawqūf manner. It was recorded by al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (1010). ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ṣāliḥ is weak, so his narration is not used as evidence, especially when contradicted, but Abū Yaʿlá also recorded it (297/1) in the same way, and from him from Muʿāwiyah ibn Ṣāliḥ from ʿAbd al-Wahhāb ibn Bakht similar to Ibn Wahb's marfūʿ narration, which is more authentic. It has been established that the Companions acted according to this authentic ḥadīth. Al-Bukhārī narrated in "al-Adab" (1011) from al-Ḍaḥḥāk ibn Nibrās Abū al-Ḥasan from Thābit from Anas ibn Mālik. I said: Al-Ḍaḥḥāk is lenient in ḥadīth, but al-Mundhirī (3/268) and al-Haythamī (8/34) attributed it to al-Ṭabarānī in al-Awsaṭ and said: "Its isnād is good."
