he was followed by Abū al-Mughīrah in the work of al-Dārimī, as he missed the follow-up of Sufyān mentioned—who is Ibn ʿUyaynah—at al-Bayhaqī. The wording of the narration of Abū al-Mughīrah... from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ḥarmalah who said: A man came to Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyib to bid farewell for Ḥajj or ʿUmrah, so he said to him: Do not leave until you pray, for the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: (he mentioned the ḥadīth) He said: My companions are at al-Ḥarrah! He said: So he left. He said: Saʿīd continued to mention him until he was informed that he fell from his mount and his thigh was broken. I said: Its isnād is mursal and authentic.

"You lied, he will not enter it (meaning the Fire), for he witnessed Badr and al-Ḥudaybiyyah. Meaning Ḥāṭib ibn Abī Baltaʿah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu)." It was recorded by Muslim (7/169), Ibn Ḥibbān (9/125/6076), and Aḥmad (3/349) through the route of al-Layth ibn Saʿd from Abū al-Zubayr from Jābir: that a slave of Ḥāṭib came to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) complaining about Ḥāṭib, saying: O Messenger of Allāh, Ḥāṭib will surely enter the Fire! So the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: he mentioned it. Ibn Jurayj followed him: Abū al-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jābir say: he mentioned it. It was recorded by Aḥmad (3/325): Ḥajjāj narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj narrated it.
