It was recorded by Aḥmad (3/236 and 237), Ibn Jarīr, and al-Ḥākim (2/537), and it was followed by ʿAbd al-Wahhāb ibn Abī Bakr from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muslim ibn Shihāb with it. It was recorded by Ibn Jarīr and Aḥmad (3/220). I said: These are three routes from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muslim ibn Shihāb, who is trustworthy among the men of Muslim. It is well-known from him and not only from his son Muḥammad, as al-Ḥākim's words might imply. However, it is through his son Ḥasan, as al-Tirmidhī said, because there is some criticism regarding his memory. But the corroboration of his uncle al-Zuhrī, as well as ʿAbd al-Wahhāb ibn Abī Bakr al-Madanī—who is also trustworthy—makes his ḥadīth authentic. Perhaps al-Tirmidhī was not aware of these corroborations, otherwise, he would have deemed it authentic. And Allāh knows best. There is another route for the ḥadīth with similar wording. Aḥmad said (3/221): Siyyār ibn Ḥātim narrated to us, Jaʿfar ibn Sulaymān al-Ḍubʿī narrated to us, Thābit narrated from Anas who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "The birds of Paradise are like camels grazing in the trees of Paradise." Abū Bakr said: O Messenger of Allāh, these are indeed delightful birds! He said: "Those who eat them are more delightful than them" (he said it three times), "and I hope you will be among those who eat from them, O Abū Bakr!" This isnād is according to the criteria of Muslim, except for Siyyār ibn Ḥātim, who is truthful but has errors as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb," and there is an apparent anomaly. It is not strengthened by what Ibn al-Qayyim mentioned in "Ḥādī al-Arwāḥ" (1/295) from the narration of al-Ḥākim through al-Faḍl ibn al-Mukhtār from ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Muhib from ʿIṣmah ibn Mālik al-Khaṭmī from Ḥudhayfah, raised to the level of the ḥadīth of Siyyār. I said: It does not strengthen it, because this al-Faḍl is very weak. Abū Ḥātim said: "His ḥadīths are objectionable, he narrates falsehoods."
