- "There is no one who dies as an infant or an elderly person - rather, people are between these two states - except that they will be resurrected at the age of thirty. If they are among the people of Paradise, they will be in the form of Adam, the appearance of Joseph, and the heart of Job. And those who are among the people of Hell will be enlarged or made massive like mountains." It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" (2/302/1): Ḥaytham ibn Khālid narrated to us, ʿAbd al-Kabīr ibn al-Muʿāfá narrated to us: Hushaym narrated from ʿUbaydah from Ibrāhīm from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUbayd Allāh al-Hāshimī from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUkaym who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. And he said: "No one narrated it from ʿUbaydah except Hushaym, and ʿAbd al-Kabīr ibn al-Muʿāfá was unique in narrating it." I said: Ibn Abī Ḥātim said (3/1/63): "My father heard from him and narrated from him and said: He was trustworthy and reliable, and he was considered among the substitutes." I said: The issue lies with those above him, for Hushaym - who is Ibn Bashīr al-Wāsiṭī - despite being trustworthy and reliable, is known for frequently practicing tadlīs as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb." And his teacher ʿUbaydah - who is Ibn Muʿtab al-Ḍabbī - al-Dhahabī said in "al-Ḍuʿafāʾ": "Aḥmad said: They abandoned his ḥadīth." And al-Haythamī said in "Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid" (1/218): "In it is ʿUbaydah ibn Muʿtab, and they unanimously agreed on his weakness."
- "ما من أحد يموت سقطا ولا هرما - وإنما الناس فيما بين ذلك - إلا بعث ابن ثلاثين سنة، فإن كان من أهل الجنة كان على نسحة آدم، وصورة يوسف، وقلب أيوب، ومن كان من أهل النار عظموا، أو فخموا كالجبال". أخرجه الطبراني في "الأوسط" (٢ / ٣٠٢ / ١): حدثنا هيثم بن خالد حدثنا عبد الكبير بن المعافى: حدثنا هشيم عن عبيدة عن إبراهيم عن عبد الله بن عبيد الله الهاشمي عن عبد الله بن عكيم قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: فذكره. وقال: "لم يروه عن عبيدة إلا هشيم، تفرد به عبد الكبير به المعافى". قلت: قال ابن أبي حاتم (٣ / ١ / ٦٣): "سمع منه أبي وروى عنه وقال: وكان ثقة رضا، كان يعد من الأبدال". قلت: وإنما العلة ممن فوقه، فهشيم - وهو ابن بشير الواسطي - مع كونه ثقة ثبتا، فهو كثير التدليس كما في "التقريب". وشيخه عبيدة - وهو ابن معتب الضبي -، قال الذهبي في "الضعفاء": "قال أحمد: تركوا حديثه". وقال الهيثمي في "مجمع الزوائد" (١ / ٢١٨): "وفيه عبيدة بن معتب وقد أجمعوا على ضعفه".
