"a servant is not afflicted by a thorn or anything greater except that Allāh, the Almighty, expiates some of his sins because of it." It was recorded by Aḥmad (6/185) with a ṣaḥīḥ isnād according to the conditions of Muslim, and it was also recorded in "Ṣaḥīḥ" (8/15) through another chain from her with the wording: "except that some of his sins are expiated because of it, or some of his sins are atoned for," and the doubt is from Yazīd ibn Khuṣayfah, one of its narrators.

"whoever visits a sick person continues to walk in mercy until he sits, and when he sits, he is immersed in it." It was recorded by Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Muṣannaf" (3/234), Aḥmad (3/304), Ibn Abī al-Dunyā in "al-Kaffārāt" (73/1), al-Bayhaqī (3/380), and Ibn Ḥibbān in "Ṣaḥīḥ" (711) through the chain of Hushaym: ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us from ʿUmar ibn al-Ḥakam ibn Thawbān from Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said, and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is ṣaḥīḥ; its men are trustworthy, the men of the two Shaykhs, except for ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd ibn Jaʿfar, who is according to the condition of Muslim alone. It was also recorded by al-Bazzār through his chain (1/368/775 - al-Kashf). Abū Maʿshar differed, saying: from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Anṣārī who said: Abū Bakr ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr ibn Ḥazm entered upon ʿUmar ibn al-Ḥakam ibn Thawbān and said: O Abū Ḥafṣ, narrate to us a ḥadīth from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) in which there is no difference, he said: Kaʿb ibn Mālik narrated to me that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said, and he mentioned something similar.
