"Beware of sitting in the elevated places (in another narration: the roads). If you must do so, then give the road its due right." It was asked: "What is its right?" He said: "Lowering the gaze, returning the greeting, and guiding the lost." This was recorded by al-Ṭaḥāwī in "Mushkil al-Āthār" (1/58) and al-Bazzār in "Musnad" (2/425/2018) - Kashf al-Astār from the route of Muḥammad ibn al-Muthanná and Yazīd ibn Sinān who said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Sinān narrated to us: ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Mubārak narrated from Jarīr ibn Ḥāzim from Isḥāq ibn Suwayd from Ibn Ḥujayrah from ʿUmar that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. Al-Bazzār said: "We do not know anyone who attributed it except Jarīr, and no one narrated from him except Ibn al-Mubārak. Ḥammād ibn Zayd narrated it from Isḥāq ibn Suwayd as mursal." It occurred as such, and al-Ṭaḥāwī connected it from the route of Ḥajjāj ibn Minhal: Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated to us from Isḥāq ibn Suwayd from Yaḥyá ibn Yaʿmar that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and he mentioned the ḥadīth, and al-Ṭaḥāwī said: "The isnād is disconnected." I say: This means it is mursal, and it is more likely to be correct as al-Dāraqutnī said in "al-ʿIlal" (2/251), and Isḥāq ibn Suwayd is narrated from by both Ḥammāds, so it is possible that both of them narrated it from him as mursal. Then, it should be examined whether the mention of Yaḥyá ibn Yaʿmar was omitted from the narration of "Kashf al-Astār" or its copyist. (1)
