"It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī, and its narrators are those of the authentic collections except for Abū Jaʿfar al-Khaṭmī, who is trustworthy." I said: It has a third corroborating narration from ʿAlī (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) that is elevated with a similar meaning. It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī, who graded it as ḥasan, and in it, the follower is not named, so perhaps he graded it ḥasan due to its corroborations, but with them, it is ṣaḥīḥ. See "al-Targhīb" (3/109, 123 and 4/118) and "al-Mishkāt" (5366). It has a fourth corroborating narration from Ibn Masʿūd, whose isnād was deemed good by al-Mundhirī and then al-Haythamī, although there is some scrutiny which I clarified in "al-Taʿlīq al-Raghīb" (3/123), but it is suitable for corroboration. It has a fifth corroborating narration from al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī as a mursal. It was recorded by Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (1/340) through two chains from him. (Note): The ḥadīth was previously mentioned under number (1884) in the narration of al-Bazzār from Abū Juḥayfah only, and there was an omission in it, perhaps from the manuscript, which can be corrected from here.

"Indeed, among you is one who will fight over the interpretation of this Quran just as I fought over its revelation." We looked around, and among us were Abū Bakr and ʿUmar. He said: "No, but it is the one mending the sandal," meaning ʿAlī (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu). It was recorded by al-Nasāʾī in "Khaṣāʾiṣ ʿAlī" (p. 29), Ibn Ḥibbān (2207), al-Ḥākim (3/122-123), Aḥmad (3/33, 82), Abū Yaʿlá (1/303-304), Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (1/67), and Ibn ʿAsākir (12/179/2-180/2) through various chains from Ismāʿīl ibn Rajāʾ al-Zubaydī from his father, who said: I heard Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī say: We were sitting waiting for the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and he came out to us from one of his wives' houses. He said: So we stood with him, and his sandal strap broke, so ʿAlī stayed behind to mend it. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) continued on, and we went with him, then he stopped to wait for him, and we stood with him, and he said: (he mentioned it). He said: So we came to give him the good news, and it was as if he had already heard it
