the Muslims, then he commanded and forbade him and admonished him, then said: Do you remember the day the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said, "There is no obedience to a created being in disobedience to Allāh"? Al-Ḥakam said: Yes, ʿImrān said: Allāhu akbar. In a narration by Aḥmad from Muḥammad: "I was informed that ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn said to al-Ḥakam al-Ghifārī—and both were Companions of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam): Do you know the day the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: There is no obedience in disobedience to Allāh? He said: Yes, he said: Allāhu akbar, Allāhu akbar."
