he said in "al-Jarḥ wa-al-Taʿdīl" (3/1/74): "He narrated from Anas, and narrated from him were Yaḥyá ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Jābir, Jābir al-Juʿfī, Qaṭrī al-Khashshāb, Abū Hāshim, and Salamah ibn Rajāʾ. My father said: He is a shaykh." Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" (5/130) from the narration of Mukhtār ibn Abī Mukhtār from him. As for al-Dāraquṭnī, he weakened him as mentioned in "al-Mīzān." I did not see anyone mention that he is among the narrators of "al-Ṣaḥīḥ," and perhaps al-Haythamī was mistaken in thinking he was ʿAbd al-Wārith ibn Saʿīd al-Tamīmī al-ʿAnbarī, their freedman, for he is among the narrators of "al-Shaykhayn," but he narrates from Anas through ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Ṣuhayb and others. And Allāh, the Exalted, knows best. 2 - As for the ḥadīth of Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, it is narrated by Faḍl ibn Marzūq from ʿAṭiyyah from them in a marfūʿ form similar to it, and the old shaykh was not mentioned. It was recorded by al-Baghawī in "Ḥadīth Ibn al-Jaʿd" (Q 94/1) and also by al-Bazzār, who said: "We do not know it from the ḥadīth of Abū Saʿīd except through Faḍl, and ʿAṭiyyah is weak." 3 - As for the ḥadīth of Muʿādh, its wording is: "On the Day of Judgment, the one who was mentally transformed, the one who perished during the interval, and the one who perished young will be brought. The mentally transformed will say: O Lord! If You had given me intellect, none whom You gave intellect would have been happier with his intellect than I. The one who perished during the interval will say: O Lord! If a covenant had come to me from You, none to whom a covenant came from You would have been happier with his covenant than I. And the one who perished young will say: If You had given me life, none whom You gave life would have been happier with his life than I. The Lord ﵎ will say: I command you with a command, will you obey Me? They will say: Yes, by Your might. He will say: Go and enter the Fire. If they had entered it, it would not have harmed them. Then flames will come upon them, and they will think that they have destroyed everything Allāh created, so they will return quickly, saying: We came out, O Lord! We intended to enter it, but flames came upon us, and we thought they had destroyed everything Allāh created. He will command them a second time, and they will return in the same way, saying the same as they said. Allāh ﵎ will say: Before you were created, I knew what you would do and to..
