"al-Ṭabaqāt" (2/145) through various chains from Zakariyyā ibn Abī Zāʾidah from al-Shaʿbī from al-Ḥārith ibn Mālik ibn Barṣāʾ, attributed to the Prophet. al-Ṭaḥāwī added: "Sufyān (meaning Ibn ʿUyaynah) said: Its interpretation is that they will never be declared disbelievers, nor will they be fought against as disbelievers." al-Tirmidhī said: "A ḥadīth that is ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ." I say: Its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of the two Shaykhs, except that Zakariyyā ibn Abī Zāʾidah used to practice tadlīs. ʿAbdullāh ibn Abī al-Safar contradicted him, saying: from ʿĀmir al-Shaʿbī from ʿAbdullāh ibn Muṭīʿ ibn al-Aswad - the brother of Banū ʿAdī ibn Kaʿb - from his father Muṭīʿ - whose name was al-ʿĀṣ, and the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) named him Muṭīʿ - he said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) when he ordered the killing of these individuals in Mecca, saying: and he mentioned it, adding: "No Qurashī will ever be killed in captivity after this year." Aḥmad (3/412 and 4/213) and al-Ṭaḥāwī narrated it through the route of Ibn Isḥāq, who told me Shuʿbah ibn al-Ḥajjāj from ʿAbdullāh ibn Abī al-Safar ... and this isnād is good, and it is more authentic to me than the previous one. And Allāh knows best. Zakariyyā corroborated this addition, saying: ʿĀmir narrated it to us. Aḥmad narrated it explicitly mentioning the narration, and Muslim (5/173), al-Ṭaḥāwī, and al-Ḥākim (4/275) also narrated it from him with an unbroken chain. And it was corroborated by Farās from al-Shaʿbī in a similar manner. Aḥmad narrated it. It has a supporting narration from Abū Maʿshar from Yūsuf ibn Yaʿqūb from al-Sāʾib ibn Yazīd (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu)
