- "What do I have to do with the world? And what do I have to do with embroidery?" Narrated by Abū Dāwūd (4149) and Aḥmad (2/21) from Ibn Numayr, who reported from Faḍīl ibn Ghazwān, from Nāfiʿ, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) came to Fāṭimah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhā) and found a curtain at her door, so he did not enter. It was rare for him to visit without starting with her. ʿAlī (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) came and saw her distressed, and asked: 'What is the matter with you?' She said: 'The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) came to me but did not enter.' So ʿAlī (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) went to him and said: 'O Messenger of Allāh! Fāṭimah is upset because you came to her but did not enter.' He replied: (and mentioned it), so he went to Fāṭimah and informed her of the words of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). She said: 'Tell the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam): What does he command me to do?' He said: 'Tell her to send it to the family of so-and-so.'" Then Abū Dāwūd said (4050): Wāṣil ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿlá al-Asadī narrated to us, Ibn Faḍīl narrated from his father this ḥadīth, saying: And it was a decorated curtain. I say: The first isnād is authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim, and the addition is according to the criteria of Muslim. His saying: (and embroidery) Ibn al-Athīr said: He means the design and decoration.

Narrated by Abū Ṭāhir al-Mukhliṣ (9/196/2) and from him by al-Daylamī (4/148) and Tamām in "His Benefits" (122/1) and Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Ghaḍāʾirī in "His Ḥadīths" (204/2) from ʿAbd al-Ghaffār ibn Dāwūd Abū Ṣāliḥ al-Ḥarrānī, who said: ʿĪsá ibn Yūnus narrated to us from al-Aʿmash, from Abū Ṣāliḥ, from Abū Hurayrah, as a marfūʿ ḥadīth
