The ḥāfiẓ said: "It is said that he was a Companion, and it is also said that he belonged to the third generation." 2 - As for the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah, it is narrated by Ibn Abī Dhiʾb from Ṣāliḥ, the client of al-Tawʾamah, from him. It was recorded by Aḥmad (2/446 and 6/324), and Ibn Saʿd in "al-Ṭabaqāt" (8/55 and 207-208), and al-Baghawī in "Ḥadīth ʿAlī ibn al-Jaʿd" (12/127/2). I said: This isnād is good as has been previously verified in the ḥadīth: "Whoever prays over a funeral..."
