attributed to al-Ṭabarānī and Ibn ʿAsākir. Therefore, it is not suitable to use it as evidence for the ḥadīth of the chapter, as is apparent. And Allāh knows best.

- "He forbade dyed with safflower." It was narrated by Ibn Mājah (2/377) from Yazīd ibn Abī Ziyād from al-Ḥasan ibn Suhayl from Ibn ʿUmar as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. Yazīd said: "I asked al-Ḥasan: What is 'dyed with safflower'? He said: It is saturated with safflower." I say: This isnād is weak, and al-Ḥasan ibn Suhayl, al-Dhahabī said: "I do not know anyone who narrated from him except Yazīd ibn Abī Ziyād al-Kūfī, but Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in (al-Thiqāt)." I say: His authentication is not reliable in this case because it is known that he authenticated the unknown, even those about whom he said: "I do not know him nor his father." And Yazīd ibn Abī Ziyād - who is the Hāshimī, their client - is weak. However, the ḥadīth is supported by a witness from the ḥadīth of ʿAlī (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) who said: "My beloved ﷺ forbade me from three things - I do not say: he forbade the people - he forbade me from wearing gold rings, wearing qasī, and dyed with safflower."
