Sufyān narrated to us from Ḥumayd from Anas with it, and al-Ḍiyāʾ said: "Al-Faḍl was mentioned by Ibn Abī Ḥātim, and no criticism was mentioned about him." I said: He was mentioned through the narration of a group of trustworthy individuals about him, and he said (3/2/65): "I asked my father about him, and he said: He is a shaykh, his ḥadīth is written." Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" (7/318 and 9/5). I said: And the rest of the men of the isnād are trustworthy from the men of the two shaykhs, except for Bishr ibn Mūsá—who is Ibn Ṣāliḥ Abū ʿAlī al-Asadī—and he is trustworthy, reliable, sensible, and firm, as al-Khaṭīb said in his biography (7/86). And Abū ʿAlī Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad al-Ṣawwāf was also mentioned by al-Khaṭīb (1/289) and narrated from Muḥammad ibn Abī al-Fawāris that he said: "He was trustworthy, reliable, and cautious, I have not seen anyone like him in caution." I said: So the isnād, in my view, is good, especially if the first path is added to it. And Allāh knows best. And it has a third path, but it is not something to rejoice over! It was also extracted by Ibn Bishrān (139/2) from Bishr ibn al-Ḥusayn: al-Zubayr ibn ʿAdī narrated to us from Anas with it. I said: This Bishr is abandoned. And it has a corroborating narration from ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb. It was extracted by al-Dīnūrī in "al-Muntaqá min al-Majālisah" (296/2) from al-Mughīrah ibn Muslim from Hishām from ʿAbd Allāh from him. Abū Jaʿfar said: "I do not know who this Hishām is?"
