wahīb is Ibn Mufaḍḍal al-Ghifārī, a Companion, who witnessed the conquest of Egypt and settled there. al-Ḥumaydī included it in his "Musnad" (384): Sufyān narrated to us, saying: Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, saying: I heard Abū Saʿīd al-Aʿmā narrating (from) ʿAṭāʾ ibn Abī Rabāḥ, who said: "Abū Ayyūb went to ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir - who was in Egypt - to ask him about a ḥadīth he heard from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and no one else who heard it from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) remained except him and ʿUqbah. When he arrived, he went to the house of Muslimah ibn Mukhallad al-Anṣārī - who was the governor of Egypt - and informed him, so he hurried out to meet him and embraced him. Then he said: What brings you here, O Abū Ayyūb? He replied: A ḥadīth I heard from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and no one else who heard it remains except me and ʿUqbah. So send someone to guide me to his house. He sent someone to guide him to ʿUqbah's house, and he informed ʿUqbah, who hurried out to meet him and embraced him, saying: What brings you here, O Abū Ayyūb? He replied: A ḥadīth I heard from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and no one else heard it except me and you, regarding the concealment of a believer. ʿUqbah said: Yes, I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: (and he mentioned it) with the wording: "Whoever conceals a believer in this world regarding a disgrace, Allāh will conceal him on the Day of Resurrection." Abū Ayyūb said to him: You have spoken the truth. Then Abū Ayyūb returned to his mount, rode it back to Medina, and the gift of Muslimah ibn Mukhallad did not reach him except at the outskirts of Egypt. al-Ḥākim also included it in "Maʿrifat ʿUlūm al-Ḥadīth" (pp. 7-8) from al-Ḥumaydī, and Aḥmad (4/153) from Sufyān - who is Ibn ʿUyaynah - in an abbreviated form, and Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr referenced it (1/93). I said: Its narrators are reliable, the narrators of the two Shaykhs, except for Abū Saʿīd al-Aʿmā - and it is said: Abū Saʿd al-Aʿmā - who has a biography in "al-Taʿjīl" (p. 488), from which it is taken that he has no narrator except Ibn Jurayj, so he is unknown. Aḥmad narrated (4/104) from Makḥūl that ʿUqbah came to Muslimah ibn Mukhallad (who was the governor) in Egypt, and there was an issue between him and the doorkeeper, so he heard his voice and allowed him in, saying: I did not come to visit you, but I came for a need.
