"I went to ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn one day, and he said: O Abū al-Aswad - and he mentioned the ḥadīth - that a man from Juhaynah or Muzaynah came to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and said: O Messenger of Allāh! What do you think about what people are doing today and striving for, is it something decreed for them or something that has passed in a previous decree, or is it something they are facing that their Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) brought to them and for which the argument has been established against them? He said: Rather, it is something decreed for them and has passed upon them. He said: Then why do they work, O Messenger of Allāh? He said: "and he mentioned it." Ibn Jarīr also narrated it in his "Tafsīr" (30/135) through the route of Ṣafwān ibn ʿĪsá and Abū ʿĀṣim al-Nabīl who said: ʿAzrah ibn Thābit narrated it. I said: And this isnād is authentic, all its men are trustworthy, the men of Muslim. Ibn Yaʿmar's name is also Yaḥyá. The ḥadīth was also narrated by Muslim (8/48-49) and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (18/223/557) through the route of ʿUthmān ibn ʿUmar who narrated it from ʿAzrah ibn Thābit in a similar manner, without the first part of the ḥadīth of the translation. Al-Suyūṭī mentioned it in "al-Jāmiʿ" in a summarized form with the wording: "Whomever Allāh created for one of the two abodes, He guided him to its work." And he said: "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Kabīr' from ʿImrān." I said: And it was not mentioned by al-Sahmī in "Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid" at all, perhaps because Muslim included it as we mentioned. It is with al-Ṭabarānī through the route of ʿAwn ibn ʿAmārah who narrated it from ʿAzrah. I said: And ʿAwn is weak, but he is strengthened by Ṣafwān and Abū ʿĀṣim mentioned earlier. And the statement of al-Munāwī in "al-Taysīr": "And its isnād is ḥasan." is a clear error.
" غدوت على عمران بن حصين يوما من الأيام، فقال: يا أبا الأسود - فذكر الحديث - أن رجلا من جهينة أو من مزينة أتى النبي ﷺ فقال: يا رسول الله! أرأيت ما يعمل الناس اليوم ويكدحون فيه، شيء قضي عليهم، أو مضى عليهم في قدر قد سبق، أو فيما يستقبلون مما أتاهم به نبيهم ﷺ واتخذت عليهم به الحجة؟ قال: بل شيء قضي عليهم ومضى عليهم. قال: فلم يعملون إذا يا رسول الله؟ قال: " فذكره. وأخرجه ابن جرير في " تفسيره " (٣٠ / ١٣٥) من طريق صفوان بن عيسى وأبي عاصم النبيل قالا: حدثنا عزرة بن ثابت به. قلت: وهذا إسناد صحيح، رجاله كلهم ثقات رجال مسلم. وابن يعمر اسمه يحيى أيضا. والحديث أخرجه مسلم (٨ / ٤٨ - ٤٩) والطبراني في " المعجم الكبير " (١٨ / ٢٢٣ / ٥٥٧) من طريق عثمان بن عمر حدثنا عزرة بن ثابت به نحوه، دون الشطر الأول من حديث الترجمة. وأورده السيوطي في " الجامع " مختصرا بلفظ: " من خلقه الله لواحدة من المنزلتين وفقه لعملها ". وقال: " رواه الطبراني في " الكبير " عن عمران ". قلت: ولم يورده السهمي في " مجمع الزوائد " أصلا، وكأنه لإخراج مسلم إياه على ما ذكرنا. وهو عند الطبراني من طريق عون بن عمارة حدثنا عزرة به. قلت: وعون ضعيف، لكن يقويه صفوان وأبي عاصم المتقدمة. وقول المناوي في " التيسير ": " وإسناده حسن ". خطأ ظاهر.
