I said: The two Shaykhs and others have used it as evidence, so it appears that his ʿanʿanah only harms what he narrated from Anas and the like. And Allāh knows best. As for al-Munāwī's statement in "al-Fayḍ" following al-Ḥākim's previous statement: "Al-Dhahabī critiqued it in 'al-Muhadhdhab,' saying: This is a rejected ḥadīth, and Hārūn is unknown." I said: This is one of al-Dhahabī's errors, for he thought that this Hārūn ibn Muslim is the one who narrated from Qatādah, and from him Salm ibn Qutaybah and others narrated. Abū Ḥātim said about him: "Unknown." Similarly in "al-Mīzān." Then he mentioned after it Hārūn ibn Muslim, the one associated with henna, and quoted Abū Ḥātim's previous statement: "He is weak." And al-Ḥākim's statement: "Trustworthy." Thus, he confused this one with the previous one in "al-Muhadhdhab," leading to the error.
