al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Mundhirī in "al-Targhīb" (4/144-155). Among what he did not present is the mursal narration of ʿAṭāʾ ibn Yasār that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "Allāh continues to test the servant until he meets Him without any sin." It was recorded by Ibn Abī al-Dunyā in "al-Maraḍ wa-al-Kaffārāt" (87/1): narrated to us by Khālid ibn Khudāsh, narrated by ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Muḥammad from Suhayl ibn Abī Ṣāliḥ from Zayd from ʿAṭāʾ ibn Yasār. This isnād is good; all its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of Muslim, except for a weakness in Khālid ibn Khudāsh. Then he recorded (88/1) from the route of Ibrāhīm ibn Ḥamzah, who narrated to me ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Muḥammad from ʿAmr ibn Yaḥyá from Abū al-Ḥuwayrith from Muḥammad ibn Jubayr that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "Indeed, Allāh tests His servant with illness until He expiates all his sins through it." This is also mursal, and its narrators are trustworthy except for Abū al-Ḥuwayrith, whose name is ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Muʿāwiyah al-Madanī. The ḥāfiẓ said: "Truthful but poor in memory."

"Provide for her, for provision is necessary even if it is half a sāʿ of dates." It was recorded by al-Bayhaqī (7/257) from the route of ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd al-Ṣamad, narrated to us by Abū Hammām al-Walīd ibn Shujāʿ al-Sakūnī, narrated by Muṣʿab ibn Salām, narrated by Shuʿbah from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAqīl from Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) who said: "When Ḥafṣ ibn al-Mughīrah divorced his wife Fāṭimah, she came to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and he said to her husband: Provide for her. He said: I do not find anything to provide for her. He said: Provision is necessary, even if it is half a sāʿ of dates."
