from the Mother of the Believers, Umm Salamah, who said: "I asked the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) about those who were transformed, whether they have offspring. He said: No one who was transformed ever had offspring or descendants." Narrated by Abū Yaʿlá (318/2) and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (23/325/746). And Layth—who is Ibn Abī Sulaym—had become confused. He was contradicted in his isnād by Misʿar and al-Thawrī, who said: from ʿAlqamah ibn Marthad from al-Mughīrah ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Yashkurī from al-Maʿrūr ibn Suwayd from ʿAbd Allāh (meaning: Ibn Masʿūd) who said: "The apes and pigs were mentioned in his presence (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) as being among those transformed, and the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: Allāh did not transform anything and leave it with offspring or descendants, and the apes and pigs existed before that." Narrated by Muslim (8/56-57) and Aḥmad (1/390, 413, 433, 445, 466). He was followed by Abū al-Aḥwaṣ al-Jushamī from Ibn Masʿūd with it. Narrated by Aḥmad (1/395, 396-397, 421).
عن أم المؤمنين أم سلمة قالت: " سألت رسول الله ﷺ عمن مسخ، أيكون له نسل؟ فقال: ما مسخ أحد قط فكان له نسل ولا عقب ". أخرجه أبو يعلى (٣١٨/ ٢) والطبراني في " الكبير " (٢٣ / ٣٢٥ / ٧٤٦). وليث - وهو ابن أبي سليم - كان اختلط. وقد خالفه في إسناده مسعر والثوري فقالا: عن علقمة بن مرثد عن المغيرة بن عبد الله اليشكري عن المعرور بن سويد عن عبد الله (يعني: ابن مسعود) قال: " وذكرت عنده ﷺ القردة والخنازير أنه مما مسخ، فقال النبي ﷺ: إن الله لم يمسخ شيئا فيدع له نسلا أو عاقبة، وقد كانت القردة والخنازير قبل ذلك ". أخرجه مسلم (٨ / ٥٦ - ٥٧) وأحمد (١ / ٣٩٠ و ٤١٣ و ٤٣٣ و ٤٤٥ و ٤٦٦). وتابعه أبو الأحوص الجشمي عن ابن مسعود به. أخرجه أحمد (١ / ٣٩٥ و ٣٩٦ - ٣٩٧ و ٤٢١).

"No human ever filled a vessel worse than the stomach. It is sufficient for the son of Adam to have a few bites to sustain his back. But if he must, then a third for his food, a third for his drink, and a third for his breath." Narrated by al-Tirmidhī (3/378), Ibn Ḥibbān (1349 - Mawārid), al-Ḥākim (4/121, 331), ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Mubārak in "al-Zuhd" (603), Aḥmad (4/132), Ibn Saʿd (1/410), al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (20/272/644-646), and Ibn ʿAsākir (7/307/2) through various chains from Yaḥyá ibn Jābir al-Ṭāʾī who said: I heard al-Miqdām ibn Maʿdīkarib al-Kindī say: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: and he mentioned it
" ما ملأ آدمي وعاء شرا من بطن، بحسب ابن آدم أكلات يقمن صلبه، فإن كان لا محالة، فثلث لطعامه وثلث لشرابه وثلث لنفسه ". أخرجه الترمذي (٣ / ٣٧٨) وابن حبان (١٣٤٩ - موارد) والحاكم (٤ / ١٢١ و٣٣١) وعبد الله بن المبارك في " الزهد " (٦٠٣) وأحمد (٤ / ١٣٢) وابن سعد (١ / ٤١٠) والطبراني في " الكبير " (٢٠ / ٢٧٢ / ٦٤٤ - ٦٤٦) وابن عساكر (٧ / ٣٠٧ / ٢) من طرق عن يحيى بن جابر الطائي قال: سمعت المقدام بن معد يكرب الكندي قال: سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: فذكره.
