ʿAbd al-Salām ibn Ḥarb narrated to us from Isḥāq ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Furwah from Salamah ibn Abī Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān from his father from him. And he said: "It is not narrated from Abū Saʿīd except through this isnād, and Abū Bilāl is the only one who narrated it." I said: His name is Mirdās ibn Muḥammad, and he was deemed weak by al-Dāraquṭnī and al-Ḥākim, and Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" and said: "He narrates rare things." And with this, al-Haythamī criticized it (1/104), saying: "And he is weak." Criticizing it due to Isḥāq ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Furwah is more appropriate, as he is abandoned and extremely weak. 3 - ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr said: The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) ascended the pulpit and then said: "Rejoice, whoever performs the five prayers and avoids the seven major sins will be called from the gates of Paradise." It was said to him: Did you hear the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) mention them? He said: Yes ... and he mentioned a ḥadīth similar to that of ʿAlī. This is how al-Ḥāfiẓ mentioned it in "al-Fatḥ" (12/182) from the narration of Ismāʿīl al-Qāḍī through the route of al-Muṭṭalib ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ḥanṭab from him. And this al-Muṭṭalib is truthful but frequently sends and conceals [his sources], as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb." Then al-Ḥāfiẓ mentioned another wording for the ḥadīth of ʿAlī, and in it: "returning to the desert after migration." And he attributed it to Ibn Abī Ḥātim through the route of Mālik ibn Ḥurayth from him. This is how it appeared with "Ḥurayth."
