It has also been narrated through two other routes from Jābir, but they are defective, and thus I included it in "al-Ḍaʿīfah" (5379).

"What you have been given of anything and what I withhold from you, I am only a treasurer who places where I am commanded." It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (2/25) and Aḥmad (2/314) from ʿAbd al-Razzāq, who reported from Maʿmar, from Hammām ibn Munabbih, who said: This is what Abū Hurayrah narrated to us, the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. I said: This isnād is authentic according to the criteria of al-Shaykhayn. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī ʿAmrah followed him from Abū Hurayrah with the wording: "By Allāh, I do not give you nor withhold from you, I am only a distributor who places it where I am commanded." It was recorded by al-Daylamī (4/51) through the route of Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm al-Ṭarsūsī, who reported from Isḥāq ibn Manṣūr, who reported from Isrāʾīl, from Jābir, from Ibn Buraydah, from his father, who raised it.
